Tuesday

It's been a while...

...and I nearly forgot my password!

Hello! How are you?

I'm doing pretty well. The family is gearing up for another long deployment, and on that note I believe I'm going to shut down shop here. My "creativity" has up and left me this year. Not really a surprise, I suppose, since I've been doing absolutely ZILCH to foster it. However, I have been squeezing in tons and tons of Family Time - which is always a bonus!

So that got me to thinking. I need to take more steps to stimulate my sanity side - some days more than others - so I think I just might start a new blog after my WhiteBoy leaves. It won't be filled with fabulous creations of paper, glue, and glitter. Or lace. Probably just my thoughts from whatever day I need to explode on paper... err, on screen, rather.

Anywho, didn't want to just up and leave without a proper bye! Y'all take care and be blessed.

Lacey (lazy) days

Oi!  It's been a while since I've dusted off these ol' blog keys!  How are you doing?

Life has been steady-hectic and I haven't done a dog-gone creative thing in months, but as I was perusing through my pics, I came across these gift tags that I made around Xmas time for some sweet peeps!

The idea was to use bits and leftover scraps of lace sewn onto scraps of music.  I eventually added little photo corners onto them to hold a personal note - a totally reusable/recyclable gift tag!
Lace always inspires me.  Sigh.  Maybe I should pull out my bundles of lace next week and play?

Hope all is well with y'all!  At the rate of my blogging, I should be posting again in another 3 (or 4) months, ha!

Exposing my bags...

No silly, not the ones under my eyes.... nor the ones saddling the area that was once my perky hind-end... (like 10 years ago)

This is a much sexier type of bag.

At Christmas I "sniped" the idea from one of the houses I toured and I fiiiiiiiiiinally found the box of sheet music that finally got un-packed. (Did I mention unpacking boxes stinks)

Because I didn't want to wreck the integrity of the purses, I chose to cut a piece of cardstock the same size as each purse and attach magnets to the cardstock before slipping it in the purse. Then I attached the other side of the magnet to the back of the shadowbox. After covering the back in vintage sheet music, of course!

Although I've "retired" these purses and probably don't plan to use them anywhere in the near future, in the event that I should change my girly and often indecisive mind, I can pop them out, take out the magnet cardstock inside and still use a fabulous little bag :)

It goes with out saying... my blogging time is quite neglected - but heck... my house is coming along quite nicely. Just don't look in the basement. Yet.

Saturday

Written in stone

Well gosh dang... it's been like... since Last Year since I've been here! This picture suits my frame of mind today... which direction am I suppose to be going in?!?!?!Let me start with Christmas... We headed up North...Through Seattle (where I got bored with the slow drive with snow coming down and decided to shoot pics in a moving car through a dirty windshield for your viewing pleasure, heh!...where we escaped to Semiahmoo. The view from our room was Canada, and the beach on the resort was gorgeous. The Christmas Buffet at the resort was soooooo scrumptious!WB and I strolled with our cameras in hand and shot some great scenes...and left a little message in stone on the snow for other "strollers" to find :)Our time there was filled with visits to some of my favorite little towns in Western Washington...

Lynden, WA is a great little Dutch town (with tons and tons of snow!)
And due to my sister's ravings about the peanut-soup served at the Colophon Cafe in Fairhaven, WA I had to stop through there... besides I am in love with this little town also.I fell in love with this snowflake, and hope to learn how to solder this year so I can add something like this to my snowflake-themed tree next year...We also hit the Peninsula over New Years and took our girls' two BFFs to do a whole "Twighlight" tour of our own...We ate at Bella Italia restaurant in Port Angeles on New Years eve and it was super! I will even go as far as to say it rivals one of my favorite Italian places close by. One of the scenes in the movie had Bella and Edward eating "here"...We also found "Bella's" truck she drove in the movie (so they say, lol)And... stopped into the Forks Police Station for the girls' photo-opp. ha!Now that we're back, I feel quite like this root stump we saw at LaPush Beach. Wheew! I need a vacation just from the kids' Winter Break! If I'm MIA for a few ongoing days, no worries... WB has it in his head that we need to relocate from this tiny tiny 1100 sq ft military home and find something on the Civilian side of the gate to live in.
Arrrrrrr.... this is starting off to be a busy year already and we're only into it by 3 days!

Wish me luck.

Monday

Ho ho ho? Tired of the snow?

After a day of sitting on our bums watching one Christmas movie after another, we thought it would be a great time to take a walk through our 'hood at around 10:30 pm last night...which eventually led to us building a snowman, err... snow LADY shortly before midnight.Isn't she kind of freaky looking? From the road, no one will be able to tell that she has no eyeballs. WhiteBoy was horrified when I started putting boobs on her. He had grand plans for this to be a man. heh heh. She's nesting a "snow" birdy in all her fabulousness. Ignore the night-time lighting.Ooooh... I almost forgot to show you the "green & vintagey inspired" wrapping that I've been sewing up. Do you remember getting any gifts wrapped like these when you were younger?
Had I been able to find true Vintage table cloths at the thrift stores to repurpose into these gift sacks, I would have used that instead of new fabric prints. But sigh. I think everyone in the world is hanging on to their vintage Christmas textiles. I haven't found a single one in MONTHS. Or ever.

So the "vintage" in this is the fact that yes... Grandmothers used to wrap their gifts this way. At least someone's grandma did because I still have a couple bags that someone else's grandma made :)

Imagine a pillow-case concept... in any size you want them to be... and ricrac or ribbon sewn on to tie them closed. Can you say Simple? For sure. I need to get the rest of these filled! My new tradition will be "No More Paper Wrapping. Ever!"

Now for real, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all! And for those who are travelling this holiday, please be safe!
