After a day of sitting on our bums watching one Christmas movie after another, we thought it would be a great time to take a walk through our 'hood at around 10:30 pm last night...which eventually led to us building a snowman, err... snow LADY shortly before midnight.
Isn't she kind of freaky looking? From the road, no one will be able to tell that she has no eyeballs. WhiteBoy was horrified when I started putting boobs on her. He had grand plans for this to be a man. heh heh.
She's nesting a "snow" birdy in all her fabulousness. Ignore the night-time lighting.
Ooooh... I almost forgot to show you the "green & vintagey inspired" wrapping that I've been sewing up. Do you remember getting any gifts wrapped like these when you were younger?Had I been able to find true Vintage table cloths at the thrift stores to repurpose into these gift sacks, I would have used that instead of new fabric prints. But sigh. I think everyone in the world is hanging on to their vintage Christmas textiles. I haven't found a single one in MONTHS. Or ever.
So the "vintage" in this is the fact that yes... Grandmothers used to wrap their gifts this way. At least someone's grandma did because I still have a couple bags that someone else's grandma made :)
Imagine a pillow-case concept... in any size you want them to be... and ricrac or ribbon sewn on to tie them closed. Can you say Simple? For sure. I need to get the rest of these filled! My new tradition will be "No More Paper Wrapping. Ever!"
Now for real, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all! And for those who are travelling this holiday, please be safe!
Monday
